Biography

Formed in Newcastle in February 2000 – one month prior to an aptly-timed and exciting debut on St Patrick’s Day that year – ERIN is a 5-piece (and sometime 3-piece) which has rapidly become one of the Hunter Region’s favourite Irish bands.

While recently deciding to focus on private functions, ERIN has been a resident performer at the popular Harrigan’s Irish Pub in the heart of NSW wine country (Hunter Valley) for over five years and kept toes tapping at the annual and exciting “Fiddle & Bang” event at nearby Rothbury Estate. She was a regular player at Newcastle’s favourite Irish Pub, MJ Finnegan’s and is sought after as the perfect mix of traditional and contemporary Celtic music for pubs, clubs, weddings and functions.

A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY…

Amidst frequent pub and club appearances, ERIN has injected her home-grown energy into local music festivals (Wollombi, Mattara, King Street Fair) and even stretched herself to croon with the best at the Morpeth Jazz Festival, thereafter becoming a resident act at the popular Commercial Hotel.

Due to popular demand, ERIN has returned to the public arena, performing regularly at Maitland’s Hunter Valley Brewery.

ERIN has enjoyed working with internationally acclaimed artists such as Irish harpist, Claire Roche and Australian master of the Scottish fiddle, Chris Duncan.

In early 2003 ERIN released a self titled album which is available at ERIN performances or via her website www.erin.net.au. She is proud to announce the recent completion of her second release, “Let’s Toss This Salad” (2008) – an acoustic album of traditional and jazz pieces performed by the ERIN TRIO.

Due to popular demand, ERIN has returned to the public arena, performing regularly at Maitland’s Hunter Valley Brewery.   Following the exciting opportunity to perform at acclaimed Australian folk festivals, ERIN looks forward to exploring more of the same, with the possibility of international travel on the cards in the future.

With member backgrounds as diverse as jazz, folk, heavy metal and classical, ERIN transports the Celtic tradition (eg The Clancy Brothers, The Dubliners, Steeleye Span) into the new millennium, together with a hint of the Irish contemporaries (U2, The Pogues, Sinead O’Connor & The Corrs).

…Thrill to the fiddle,
swoon to the song,
& enjoy the ‘Craic’
with ERIN …
