Bernadette Lannen – Lead Vocals, Bodhran, Percussion

With great-grandparents hailing from the Irish counties of Tipperary and Carlow, Bernadette’s gift for Irish song and passion for Celtic music is inarguably in her blood. Bernadette had been singing professionally for 7 years and has also performed lead and supporting roles in local musical theatrical societies. She continues to train with the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music (where she also works in vocal tuition) and has received vocal scholarships for 6 consecutive years.

Recent trips to the Emerald Isle allowed Bernadette to perform in genuine Irish pubs, and experience first hand the essence of Ireland’s musical passion. It is this combination of Irish heritage and music history, which has shaped Bernadette’s into a voice flexible enough to cover fast-paced, rock-influenced songs, while maintaining an ethereal quality to folk music and ancient Celtic melodies. Described as one of ‘the most beautiful voices in Newcastle’, the diversity of Erin could ask for nothing less.

Nate Downie – Violin, Backing Vocals, Mandolin, Saxophone

For someone barely in his mid twenties, Nate boasts an amazing range of experience and repertoire. His musical pursuits have drawn upon a mixed bag of talents. (Did we mention that, in addition to the fiddle, sax & voice used in Erin, Nate’s a guitarist as well?!) With a passion for the work of Dylan, Nate enlivens a solid technical background by drawing upon his commitment to melody with emotion.

From big band to bush band, jazz to R&B, and funk to folk rock, Nate’s performing career has already spanned a decade in a musical feast stretching from Wollongong to Newcastle. Nate has certainly found his calling in Erin, with audiences ever calling for more from this magician of the fiddle.

Andrew Goodwin – Guitars

Andrew has been performing in local bands for the past 10 years. Originally a bass player with bands such as Pursuit, Ivy and Suburban Rhythm, more recently Andrew has indulged his passion for playing the Acoustic Guitar. Listing a diverse range of influences such as Tommy Emmanuel, Tool and Cat Stephens, Andrew’s guitar playing shifts effortlessly between rhythmic strumming and delicate fingerpicking.

Chris Davidson – Drums

Boasting over a decade of performance history, Chris “Davo” Davidson has been responsible for keeping the beat for a number of successful Hunter bands, across an impressive range of musical styles (The most recent of these acts include Mahogany, Chimera and The Tourettes/Gonzo). With training based in jazz and rock, Davo’s talent and diversity have allowed him the opportunity to work with a number of recognised artists, including blues legend and Golden Guitar winner, Johnny Green, as well as pop-rockers Muzzy Pep (Winners of Triple J Radio’s Unearthed Competition), and Rod Stewart’s own guitarist, Mick Leber.

While Davo enjoys the challenges of sound recording in his home-based studio (he spent 2003 producing the soundtrack of a new Australian film set for independent release), Davo is at his finest in the engine room. He has demonstrated an impressive fusion of styles in Erin, allowing gear changes from the groove of hip-hop and funk to the roll of a Scottish marching band or the tipple of a bodhran. …And when it all happens within the one song, the energy of Erin is at its most infectious!

Todd Johnston – Bass
